2. What Data We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account (Google Sign-In, or e-mail and password), we collect:

  • Your name (display name) and the nickname you choose
  • Email address
  • Profile picture URL (from Google, if you sign in with Google)

You can also play as a guest without an account. Guests have no e-mail address on file and never receive e-mail from us.

Profile Information (Optional)

You may optionally provide:

  • Country
  • Favorite music artist

Game Data

We collect data about your gameplay:

  • Quiz scores and results
  • Games played and completion status
  • Timestamps of gameplay

Analytics (With Your Consent)

If you accept cookies, we use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data including:

  • Pages visited
  • Time spent on site
  • Device type and browser
  • Approximate location (country/city level)

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • Provide and maintain the game service
  • Display leaderboards and rankings
  • Track your personal game history and statistics
  • Improve the game experience (analytics)
  • Send you the weekly recap e-mail, if you opted in (see below)
  • Communicate important updates about the service (if necessary)

E-mail Notifications (Opt-In)

If you have an account, you can choose to receive a weekly recap: one e-mail on Mondays with the games you played, your best score, your position in the monthly crown race and your Daily Challenge results. It is sent only for weeks in which you played. If you stop playing for about a month you may receive a single reminder, after which no further e-mails are sent until you play again.

The recap is off by default. You turn it on in your profile, on the nickname form or when we ask you once on a results page. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a); Czech Act No. 480/2004 Coll.). You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every e-mail or the switch in your profile, with immediate effect. We keep a record of when and where you gave or withdrew consent, and a log of the e-mails sent to you, so that we can prove and honour your choice.

Existing account holders may receive one single invitation telling them that this option exists; nothing is sent afterwards unless they opt in.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Firebase (Google Cloud Platform) services. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data.

Data is stored in servers located in the European Union and United States, in compliance with applicable data protection regulations.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

  • Firebase/Google Cloud: For authentication and data storage
  • Google Analytics: For anonymous usage statistics (with your consent)
  • Blueboard.cz s.r.o. (Czech Republic, EU): Our e-mail provider, which delivers the weekly recap and other e-mails we send you

Your display name and country may be visible to other users on public leaderboards.

We use the following types of cookies:

Essential Cookies

Required for the site to function (authentication, session management). These cannot be disabled.

Analytics Cookies

Google Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them in the cookie consent banner. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the site.

7. Your Rights

Under GDPR and other applicable laws, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Rectification: Correct inaccurate data
  • Erasure: Request deletion of your data
  • Portability: Receive your data in a portable format
  • Object: Object to certain processing of your data
  • Withdraw consent: Withdraw cookie consent at any time, and stop the weekly recap with the unsubscribe link in any e-mail or the switch in your profile

8. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.

Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted.

Your e-mail preference (including when and where you gave or withdrew consent) is kept for as long as your account exists. The log of e-mails sent to you is kept for 12 months.

9. Children's Privacy

LaLaQuiz is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, please contact us.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated date.
