About LaLaQuiz
LaLaQuiz is a free "guess the song" music quiz. You listen to a short preview of a real track and pick the right title from four options — the faster you answer, the more points you earn. No downloads, no account required: open a quiz and play.
How the game works
- Every question plays an audio preview (10, 20 or 30 seconds — your choice; shorter clips earn a score multiplier).
- Quizzes come in 10, 20 or 50 question lengths and cover genres from rock to K-pop, decades from the 60s to the 2020s, niche subgenres, and hand-curated playlists.
- Points reward speed and accuracy, with streak bonuses for consecutive correct answers. Scoring is computed server-side, the same way for everyone.
- The Daily Challenge serves one fresh set of 10 songs per day — the same set for every player, one attempt each, with its own daily leaderboard and streaks.
Leaderboards, crowns and duels
Anyone can play as a guest. Picking a nickname (still no account needed) puts your scores on the leaderboards and lets you compete for the monthly crown of each category — the Rulers board tracks who reigns where, and dethroning someone is half the fun. You can also turn any finished game into a head-to-head challenge and send it to a friend.
Where the music comes from
Audio previews are streamed from Deezer; track and artist metadata is enriched with Last.fm and MusicBrainz. The catalogue holds thousands of playable tracks across 80+ quizzes, and it keeps growing — new themed playlists are curated and added continuously.
The blog
The LaLaQuiz blog publishes music writing with the same DNA as the quizzes: rankings backed by real chart data, deep dives into genres and scenes, and explainers for the questions music fans actually ask — usually with a matching quiz to play afterwards.
Who makes this
LaLaQuiz is an independent project built and run by a music-obsessed indie developer — no big publisher behind it. Feedback, bug reports and playlist ideas are always welcome — get in touch.
